Gift giving is an art, a joy, a practice. The women in my family always brought a "carinito", a little something or token of care to gift others as they moved through their lives. It might be a simple assortment of dulce de leche candies or neatly packaged guayaba "ate" to serve with cheese, but they never left the house without something to offer others they'd meet.
