Original Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas (20” W x 24” H)
This painting pays homage to the mighty power of the hair chair. As a Mexican woman born with unruly curls, into a society that prizes smooth and glossy locks, I’ve spent more time and money than I’d like to admit trying to tame them. Though I could choose to ignore the cultural cues, I do really love the before and after magic that happens so quickly in the hands of a stylist with a tray full of round brushes. I leave the salon with a little more swagger than I had coming in, and who doesn’t need that once in a while?
