Original Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas (48” W x 60” H x 1.5” D)
This painting is inspired by the traditional Mexican bingo game "loteria", which I played many times as a child. We used uncooked "frijoles" beans to mark our cards.
The bingo card I created shows symbols from the border that became the iconography of my experience: quinceaneras, pinatas, the Mexican superhero "El Chapulin Colorado” we watched on tv, Jordache jeans, and “La Llorona”, the mythical weeping mother of ghost story lore.
